A few years ago, I noticed an abundance of beautiful little purple flowers in the fields, which I had never seen before. I looked them up and discovered they were called Prunella Vulgaris; otherwise known as ‘Self-heal’ or ‘Heal-all’. My search led me to find out that they had been used in traditional herbal medicine for all sorts of purposes, hence their name.
Spiritually and emotionally, the message of this little flower was one of resilience, self-nurture, of trusting our own ability to heal, integrating the mind and body, trusting our instincts and of letting go of self-destructive habits.
I was fascinated by their appearance in my life at a time when I really needed to hear their loving message. I have found that time and again, plants and animals seem to appear when we need to receive their 'medicine' in some way. Of all the plants, the easily overlooked Self-Heal speaks to me of genuine hope for the future.
